A typical class

Normally classes follow a familiar pattern. First of all we line up in grade order to mark the begining of class and to hear any announcements or news that is of interest. Once the formalities are over the warm-up begins.Warm ups tend to be quite varied in activity but a typical example might involve several cardio and strength excercises followed by some pad work. The pad work is good for developing striking skills but also provides a pretty good work-out!

Next up is the main part of the class. This is of course all about Jujitsu and so can be quite varied, but you can expect to learn and practice throws, takedowns, and striking techniques against armed and un-armed opponents. Everything is overseen by our chief instructor and founder Steve Barker Sensei. Steve is an experienced martial artist and instructor who will ensure you are training both effectively and safely so that you get the most out of your session. As with any martial art, the benefits you extract closely reflect the effort you put in, however help is always available to guide you through your training and help you to attain your goals.

The class ends as it began with the students assembled in order of grade. At the end of the kids class the students leave the training area quickly and quietly so that the next class can begin on time. As the adults group are the last ones on the matt they get the pleasure of tidying up and putting all the matts away :o)
